about us

Etymology Writing Services is the combined effort of Kelly J. Kleinfelter and Joe Blowers, two writers based in Lancaster County, PA. With complementary backgrounds and unique skills, we work closely together on every project. Why Etymology for your next writing or editing project? Simply put, we have a combined academic pedigree that very few other freelance writing consultants can claim, as well as proven professional experience in proofreading, digital marketing, and content creation for the web, as well as legal writing and editing.

Kelly J. Kleinfelter - Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Franklin & Marshall College and a Masters of Arts in Art History & Museum Studies from Case Western Reserve University. This diverse educational background combined with her professional experience in higher education administration and, more recently, digital marketing for a well-known online retailer of outdoor equipment and apparel have provided a multitude of unique writing and content creation opportunities. She's written everything from a collection of artist bios for a wildlife art museum and mandatory consumer information for a college's website to email copy for a wide variety of sales promotions and thousands of well-performing social media posts for accounts with both large (100,000+ followers) and small audiences. She prides herself on clear, error-free writing that's also engaging and friendly, and although she identifies herself as a creative writer (see also: frustrated novelist) first and foremost, she thinks in outline format and thoroughly enjoys a well-written and organized employee policy manual.

Joe BlowersJoe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Franklin & Marshall College, did graduate coursework in political science, and earned a JD from Rutgers School of Law-Camden. He has actually taught writing, first as head tutor at F&M’s Writing Center and then as a teaching assistant in grad school, conducting hundreds of one-on-one conferences to help students with their writing. Joe has also worked professionally as an editor and proofreader, including positions as editor of F&M’s course and policy catalog, as a proofreader for a national direct-mail advertising publication, and as a research assistant editing several chapters of a law professor’s book. In law school, he was an Associate Notes Editor with the Rutgers Journal of Law & Religion. He is also a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania, and has worked as a law clerk for three different judges on both state and federal courts, drafting and editing judicial opinions and gaining extensive experience with legal writing generally. Despite his work in the judicial system, he harbors a not-so-secret desire to don a crimson costume and become a vigilante known as The Red Pen, forcibly correcting mistakes on public signage everywhere.
